Addressing Warehouse Pain Points with Vishal Choudhari & Jamie Silverman

Inyxa: Addressing Warehouse Pain Points

Company Profile: Inyxa is a leading supply chain solutions provider and expert in WMS implementations with nearly 15 years of experience working with retailers, manufacturers, and distribution operations worldwide.

Based out of Chicago, Vishal Choudhari – Practice Director, and Jamie Silverman – Director of Sales for Inyxa, joined me to discuss the state of the warehouse industry and how Inyxa looks to shape the future of warehouse management.

What I found most enjoyable about my conversation with Vishal and Jamie was their shared passion for their work, as well as how genuine they both were in their desires to help clients succeed. Vishal shared, “We start by understanding what the client is trying to accomplish. We ask about what pain points they are experiencing. We’ve found a one size fits all solution isn’t the best approach because many warehouses are different in layout, material handling requirements, and industry.”

Can you tell me about the history of Inyxa?

“The company was founded in 2008 by supply chain management consultants with a passion for solving complex supply chain problems,” said Choudhari. “They saw an opportunity to provide a much-needed service to manufacturers, retailers, and distribution centers.” Their team at Inyxa understands the complexities of managing inventory and comes equipped with industry knowledge, creativity, and software development skills to solve many of the challenges warehouses face.

One of the biggest challenges with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools is a lack of focus on the end user. Many small and medium-sized businesses across the country still lack automation, including software designed to manage warehouse inventory.

Companies that have made do without automation often suffer from inefficiencies and errors, which lead to lost revenue. By empowering the end user through technology and configurable mobile workflows, Inyxa provides solutions that are not only cost-effective but also highly effective in addressing warehouse pain points.

What are you hearing from warehouses or potential clients?

Jamie shares, “Typically, warehouses are looking to automate in some form or fashion but aren’t sure where to start or how to go about it. Everyone is trying to solve for labor, but on top of that, it’s growth and inventory accuracy.” He added many warehouses, especially small to medium-sized ones, are either wholly manual or are manual plus a PC.

Inyxa finds some customers are hesitant to embrace change, especially if it’s unfamiliar or unclear. To address these concerns, they feel it’s essential to understand the proposed changes’ benefits and how they will improve their business, such as improving inventory accuracy, reducing touches, and improving overall efficiency.

How is Inyxa addressing warehouse pain points?

Inyxa Easy Pick LogoOne of the primary pain points they see with clients is inefficient inventory management, which can lead to issues like stock-outs, overages, and misplaced items. To combat this, Inyxa has developed a product called “EasyPick.” Inyxa’s EasyPick product is designed to improve inventory accuracy, order fulfillment execution, and accountability of those doing the job with built-in metrics and KPI dashboards. EasyPick provides unprecedented control and transparency of your inventory. Jamie adds, “we describe it as a warehouse management platform with a major focus on inventory control specifically designed for order fulfillment, field service, and manufacturing processes.”

The EasyPick system offers a seamless integration through mobile devices, mobile and industrial printers, and digital signage typically found in modern warehouses. This makes it an ideal solution for warehouses lacking automation or looking to upgrade their current systems. “It is simple and intuitive to the point where temp labor can be as effective as tenured employees,” adds Jamie. EasyPick integrates with various leading ERP systems and legacy applications, making it an ideal choice for companies looking to improve their warehousing and manufacturing operations.”

Complex WMS systems can take a long time to implement, sometimes up to a year, and a cookie-cutter solution can worsen things leading to over-automation and issues with change management.

With products like EasyPick, companies can start slowly and implement moderately if they choose, which prevents any significant disruptions to their business. “We want to build a solution that fits the customer’s needs, not push a solution onto them that they may not be able to use,” adds Vishal.

How do you manage change during implementation?

Inyxa’s team is heavily involved in the implementation and change management process. “We want the implementation to be simple, which requires us working with our customers to understand their problems,” says Vishal. Understanding customers’ pain points and how material moves throughout their warehouse allows them to develop a customizable solution for each customer. Vishal adds, “We start with the solution first and then the software.”

There are a few reasons why Inyxa feels this is the winning approach to change management and warehouse software implementation. Jamie believes understanding the customer and providing a “white glove” service has been a true differentiator for Inyxa. He adds, “many businesses have been doing things the same way for so long they aren’t sure or don’t know how to implement automation.” They work closely with their clients to identify the best processes for them and help make the transition as smooth as possible. By involving the team in the process, Inyxa can ensure the client gets the most value out of their solution.

Closing Thoughts

Inyxa seeks to bring an enterprise-level implementation plan and best-of-breed software to smaller and mid-sized businesses. Over the years, they have developed a combination of standard features throughout order fulfillment, manufacturing, and warehousing. They then paired it down for quick implementation and an easy-to-adapt software. “Many SMBs don’t have large IT departments, so we remove as many technical roadblocks as possible. We want to empower business users to have more control over how they configure the software and make changes as their needs evolve without needing IT or external consultants.”

I’ve seen warehouses make do with antiquated equipment, technology, and systems throughout my career. I love ‘MacGyvering’ a solution as much as the next person, but the lack of warehouse investments has always frustrated me. I’m excited to see solutions like EasyPick because it keeps my warehouse brethren in mind. I found their solutions are flexible enough to fit the specific needs of each business while addressing many of the typical pain points found in warehouses. For warehouses hesitant to embrace technology, Inyxa makes it easy for them to adapt to new changes and provide their employees with the tools they want and need to perform their best work.
